Provides support and information to people with arthritis as well as their families and friends promotes awareness of the challenges facing people with arthritis across the community, and to leaders in business, industry, and government funds research into potential causes and possible cures as well as better ways to live with arthritis, and aims to keep health professionals such as physiotherapists, occupational therapists, and community nurses informed.

The ARA is an association of rheumatologists and allied health professionals in Australia. The ARA is a specialty society of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians (RACP).

Rheumatologists are specialist physicians with particular expertise in the diagnosis and holistic management of diseases that affect joints, muscles, and bones. They treat all forms of arthritis, autoimmune connective tissue disease, spinal and soft tissue disorders and certain metabolic bone disorders, such as osteoporosis; and chronic musculoskeletal pain syndromes.
