The Arthritis Foundation of South Australia, which trades as Arthritis SA, is a non-profit community health organisation established in 1975 in response to a perceived community need for the development of adequate services for people with arthritis.
A need was recognised for a service to explore ways of providing services to people with arthritis in the areas of medical assistance, support, education and research to find a cure or better treat the disease.
Arthritis SA now provides services to the 1 in 4 South Australians with a wide range of musculoskeletal conditions including arthritis, osteoporosis, lupus, scleroderma, ankylosing spondylitis, fibromyalgia and many others.
Arthritis SA is affliated with Arthritis Australia.
Members consist of South Australians from within the community who give active support to the aims and ideals of Arthritis SA through their membership and donations.
Arthritis SA is supported by rheumatologists, general practitioners, allied health professionals, regional branch and support group members, staff and volunteers.
Arthritis SA aims to provide a professional, up-to-date approach to this community wide problem.
