New rules on complimentary medicines now apply
People with chronic health problems often look to complementary medicines as a way of supporting their condition. A major report has recommended sweeping changes to pharmacy regulations particularly in the area of homeopathic medicines. This group of products are not assessed for efficacy by the Therapeutic Goods Administration and this has been identified as a concern.
According to Ainslie Cahill CEO of Arthritis Australia around 60% of people with Arthritis try a range of products in an effort to gain relief from their chronic pain and disability.
